The Opportunity

Akido is seeking a Lead Medical Assistant to play a critical role in supporting high-quality, patient-centered care across our clinical operations. Reporting to the Clinic Manager (or Director of Clinical Operations), this role serves as both a hands-on clinical contributor and a day-to-day leader for Medical Assistants and receptionists within the clinic. You’ll help set the standard for clinical excellence, workflow efficiency, and patient experience while acting as a key liaison between providers, clinical staff, and operations. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced MA who wants to grow into leadership while staying closely connected to patient care.

What you’ll do

  • Serve as a lead and point of support for Medical Assistants and receptionists, modeling best practices in patient care, professionalism, and clinic workflows.
  • Perform Medical Assistant duties, including rooming patients, taking vitals, documenting in the EHR, preparing exam rooms, and assisting providers during visits.
  • Perform front office duties on an as-needed basis
  • Coordinate daily clinic operations to ensure smooth patient flow, timely appointments, and adherence to care protocols.
  • Support onboarding, training, and ongoing coaching of Medical Assistants and receptionist to maintain consistent clinical standards.
  • Act as a liaison between providers, clinical staff, and operations to address workflow issues and improve efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with clinical protocols, infection control standards, and documentation requirements.
  • Assist with inventory management, equipment readiness, and supply ordering as needed.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and contribute to continuous quality improvement initiatives.
  • Support special clinical programs, pilots, or initiatives aligned with Akido’s mission and care model.

Who you are

  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA, RMA, or equivalent) (required)
  • 3+ years of experience working as a Medical Assistant in a clinical setting (required)
  • Prior experience in a lead, senior, or informal mentorship role supporting other MAs (required)
  • Experience working in primary care, community health, or value-based care environments (preferred)
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively with patients, providers, and cross-functional teams (preferred)
  • Comfort using EHR systems and digital health tools (preferred)
  • Organized, adaptable, and able to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving clinical environment (preferred)

Location & Specialties Hiring: Upland, CA

Physical Demands: Mostly sedentary work duties require exerting up to thirty pounds of force occasionally and/or small amounts of force frequently. Sedentary work typically involves sitting most of the time but may involve walking or standing for brief periods.

Hourly pay range
$24$24 USD
