In our journey, we require a Senior Staff Testing Automation Engineer, whose core objective will be to elevate the quality and efficiency of our software through advanced automated testing frameworks and practices. Your focus will be on the technical intricacies of automating tests, optimizing our continuous integration pipelines, and fostering a culture where automation is at the forefront of our quality assurance strategy.

You will be working alongside a team with deep roots in product, technology, and culture focused companies (Uber, Google, Rappi, Stitch Fix).

Key responsibilities

• Strategic Automation Leadership: Spearhead the development, implementation, and continuous refinement of our automated testing frameworks. Champion the transition from manual to automated processes, setting strategic direction and ensuring alignment with our business objectives.
• Advanced Technical Expertise: Utilize your extensive experience to evaluate, select, and optimize automated testing tools and frameworks. Act as the foremost authority within the QA domain, providing guidance on complex automation challenges and new technologies.
• Automation Advocacy: Promote and institutionalize a sophisticated culture of automated testing across the organization. Mentor and lead team members in adopting and excelling in automated testing best practices, elevating the overall technical acumen of the team.
• Quality Metrics Integration: Drive the integration of quality metrics into our CI/CD pipelines, enhancing feedback loops and ensuring rapid resolution of issues. Lead the effort in utilizing data-driven approaches to improve product quality and testing efficiency.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Forge strong partnerships with development, operations, and product teams to embed quality assurance principles throughout the software development lifecycle. Facilitate knowledge sharing and collaborative problem-solving to achieve seamless integration of QA practices.

These are the minimum expectations for this position, but we are always willing to discuss bringing people on at more senior positions when appropriate. Requirements

Must have

• Experience: A minimum of 7+ years in QA automation, demonstrating a track record of strategic automation initiatives and leadership in the development of advanced automated testing frameworks.
• Technical Mastery: In-depth knowledge of automation best practices, with extensive hands-on experience with leading automation tools (e.g., Playwright, Selenium, Appium, TestNG, Cucumber, RestAssured, Jenkins). Expertise in scripting and programming languages relevant to test automation such as, Java, Python, Javascript, etc.
• Strong Knowledge of continuous integration tools. Jenkins, Github, Travis CI.
• Strategic Problem-Solving: Proven capability to navigate complex quality challenges, with a strategic approach to enhancing testing methodologies and processes.
• Leadership Communication: Exceptional leadership and communication skills, capable of driving technical strategy, mentoring engineers, and articulating complex concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

• Other Automation tools, such as, Cypres, TestCafe, Katalon Studio
• Api automation, such as, Postman, Jmeter
• Direct experience with the specific technologies and tools utilized at Aplazo.
• Frontend (JS/Angular/React), Mobile (Flutter, Native iOS, Native Android/Kotlin), AWS tools (ECS, Lambdas), GCP tools (BigQuery, pubSub),GraphQL, Ci/CD(Pulumi, Jenkins, CodeMagic), Observability (DataDog)
• Demonstrated leadership in technical mentorship and the advancement of QA automation within a large team or organization.
• You have worked in fintech, startups, and/or technology organizations in Latin America
• You understand the State of Devops and how it affects teams and workflows
• You favor regular, incremental delivery of value over perfection.
