Role’s Mission

This position sits within the Analytics team, which is responsible for enabling Aplazo to make data-driven decisions. We work closely with all business units (Growth, Marketing, Credit, Fraud, Sales, Finance, Support, etc), product and data teams to tackle business challenges with data.

The role will have two main functions within the team:

• Data Analytics: perform deep dives and experiments to solve business problems and identify opportunities.
• Data Science: develop forecasting and predictive models, use machine learning algorithms, present information and communicate findings to stakeholders.

Data stack: BigQuery, Python, dbt

Key responsibilities

• Build and maintain forecasting and predictive models
• Interact with stakeholders to identify needs
• Propose solutions and strategies to complex business challenges
• Perform experiments to prove or disregard hypothesis to improve the business

Requirements

Must have

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree degree in a quantitatively rigorous discipline like engineering, statistics, math, or economics, or relevant equivalent experience
• Excellent communication skills to communicate findings and recommendations to both technical and non-technical audiences
• Superb problem solving skills and analytical mindset
• Understanding of machine learning fundamentals and metrics
• Experience with predictive models and forecasting
• Experience with experimentation (both A/B testing and causal inference when A/B testing is not possible)
• Understanding of machine learning frameworks like scikit-learn
• Proficiency with scripting programming languages such as Python/R
• Working knowledge of SQL
• Strong time management skills and the ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize
• Strong business acumen and framing that enable high-impact decision making
• Self-motivated, team player, and willingness to learn and use new technologies

Nice to have

• Experience with dbt
• Experience with data modeling
• Experience with BI tools and building dashboards with high adoption (preferably Looker Studio, but any would suffice)
• Experience with ETL/Reverse ETL tools
• Experience with Cloud-based data warehouses
• Advanced SQL (or close to advanced and willingness to close gap really fast)
