As we continue to scale, we are seeking an Accounting Manager to lead our accounting, financial reporting, and compliance functions, ensuring best-in-class financial operations and strong internal controls.

Role Overview

Accounting Manager will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day accounting operations, leading monthly closing processes, ensuring compliance with Mexican GAAP/USGAAP. This role will serve as a key partner to the leadership team, driving operational excellence, financial discipline, and scalable processes to support Aplazo’s growth.

Key Responsibilities:

Accounting & Reporting

  • Lead all accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, payroll accounting, and treasury reconciliations.

  • Manage and ensure timely, accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual closings.

  • Prepare consolidated financial statements under USGAAP and local NIF.

  • Maintain a chart of accounts and implement process improvements for efficiency and scalability.

  • Oversee optimization of ERP/accounting systems.

Controls & Governance

  • Develop, document, and maintain robust internal controls and accounting policies.

  • Support financial audits and coordinate with external auditors.

  • Establish processes to ensure accuracy, transparency, and audit readiness.

Business Partnering & Leadership

  • Partner with FP&A to align accounting results with budgeting and forecasting

  • Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting/finance team.

  • Provide insights to leadership on financial risks, opportunities, and optimization.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Master’s or MBA a plus).

  • 7+ years of demonstrated progressive accounting/finance experience, ideally in fintech, financial services, or Big 4 audit + industry mix.

  • Strong knowledge of USGAAP, Mexican NIF

  • Experience managing audits, tax compliance, and internal controls.

  • Hands-on ERP/financial systems implementation experience.

  • Advanced Excel; familiarity with data tools (e.g., Power BI) a plus.

  • Bilingual: Spanish & English (written and spoken).
  • Strong leadership, communication, and collaboration skills.
