Join Auger — Where Innovation Meets Real-World Impact
Imagine a place where you get the best of both worlds: the speed and energy of a startup, and the experience of leaders who’ve built systems that scale globally.
Founded by 23-year Amazon veteran and serial innovator Dave Clark and backed by a $100M investment led by Oak HC/FT, Auger isn’t just rethinking how global supply chains work—we’re redefining them.
What We’re Building
Auger is creating the world’s first agentic operating system for supply chains—turning one of the planet’s most complex systems into a source of foresight, resilience, and growth.
We partner with leading global enterprises to solve their toughest challenges: accelerating decision speed, reducing costs, unlocking capital, and improving service. With Auger, brittle fragments become an indestructible engine of progress, economic strength, and planetary sustainability.
Why It Matters
Supply chain problems aren’t just business problems—they’re human ones. When a supply chain breaks down, products don’t reach shelves, workers face burnout, and the environment pays the price. Auger is here to change that.
At Auger, you’ll join an expert team that’s fundamentally reshaping one of the world’s most vital industries. If you’re ready to build technology that makes a real impact on people, business, and the planet—come build with us.
About the Role
As Head of Accounting at Auger, you will be responsible for owning and leading all aspects of the company’s accounting function. Reporting directly to the CFO, you will ensure the integrity of financial reporting, compliance with GAAP, and the efficient operation of accounting processes across the organization.
This is both a strategic and hands-on leadership role—ideal for someone eager to build the function, establish scalable processes, and lead a growing team supporting a high-growth, global business. You will oversee the full accounting lifecycle, including revenue recognition, financial reporting, audits, tax, payroll, compliance, and systems implementation and integration. You’ll play a key role in supporting executive decision-making and preparing Auger for future growth and potential public readiness.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and scale the accounting function — establish the team structure, hire key personnel, and develop internal and external (agency) resources to support Auger’s rapid growth.
Own all accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, revenue recognition, consolidations, and tax compliance.
Drive accurate revenue recognition and contract accounting, ensuring compliance with ASC 606 and alignment with multi-year, milestone-based, or usage-based contracts.
Partner closely with FP&A and the CFO to ensure accurate revenue tracking, margin analysis, and financial forecasting. Provide visibility into revenue streams, contract timing, and deferred revenue impacts to support data-driven planning and reporting.
Ensure accurate, GAAP-compliant financial reporting and maintain robust internal controls to support audit readiness and investor transparency.
Manage external relationships with auditors, tax advisors, and payroll providers, ensuring timely and high-quality deliverables.
Oversee month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of financial results.
Collaborate cross-functionally with Sales Operations, Legal, People, and Business Operations to align accounting practices with business activities and ensure compliance.
Drive process automation and system improvements, identifying opportunities to streamline accounting workflows and leverage technology for scale.
Support strategic financial initiatives, including contract structuring, international expansion, and M&A readiness.
Prepare the company for future audits and financial milestones, including potential public company requirements.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA strongly preferred.
10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership of accounting teams in high-growth environments.
Deep expertise in U.S. GAAP, financial reporting, audits, revenue recognition (ASC 606), tax compliance, and payroll operations.
Experience managing audits and working with external auditors and consultants.
Proven ability to build and lead teams, implement scalable processes, and manage change effectively.
Strong systems orientation—experience with modern accounting and ERP software (e.g., NetSuite, Intacct, QuickBooks Enterprise, etc) and data integration tools.
Exceptional attention to detail, analytical skills, and accountability.
Hands-on and proactive approach—willing to roll up sleeves while building for scale.
