The Boiler Operations Technician is accountable for managing all utilities for both non-GMP / GMP Site Services at August Bioservices Nashville, TN manufacturing site. This includes the operation of the high-pressure boilers, clean utility systems (WFI, RO, Clean Steam) and operation of the Honeywell EMS/BMS building management systems. The site consists of office space, laboratory facilities, central utilities, warehouses, drug product filling, manufacturing, and all support infrastructure and equipment. This function will operate and support maintenance of these critical utility systems and notify effected departments if any excursions occur. This role will support contractor management when service contracts are required on the utility services.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure optimal and continuous operation of mechanical systems by performing routine inspections and maintenance, monitoring metering equipment and adjusting levels as necessary.
  • Maintain systems by scheduling regular inspections, cleanings, filter replacement and all other tasks necessary to keep all components performing optimally; identify and repair or replace malfunctioning components.
  • Ensure safety by monitoring safety equipment, identifying potential issues and taking appropriate steps to suspend operations and repair the problem.
  • Perform necessary repairs and replacements, obtain replacement parts and upgrade components as needed while staying within the budget.
  • Study to keep current on knowledge of all applicable safety laws and regulations in order to ensure full compliance at all times.
  • Create and enter properly documented records of inspections, maintenance routines and repairs.
  • Sustain up-to-date knowledge of developments in relevant technology and make recommendations for overhauls and upgrades.
  • Execute preventative maintenance on critical utility systems.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma Required.
  • Preferred minimum 2-5 years of experience with complex systems and/or the industrial sector
  • Boiler operator license for State of Tennessee desired
  • Preferred knowledge of pharmaceutical utility systems including reverse osmosis (purified water), Water for Injection and Clean Steam generation
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Detail-oriented and highly safety-conscious
  • Proficiency in computerized maintenance management system

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
