The Quality Control, Laboratory Technician position maintains complete readiness of the laboratory by supporting daily functions of routine laboratory activities. These functions include, but are not limited to: hazardous waste disposal, glassware cleanliness and storage, daily equipment calibrations, inventory checks and simple solution preparations. The role of the Laboratory Technician may also extend to physical testing of finished products or raw materials, such as Appearance, pH or Density.
Responsibilities
- Maintain a safe, clean and organized work area.
- Support lab waste management, including correct labeling and storing of reagents.
- Performs clearly established, routine physical laboratory testing on raw materials and finished products).
- Perform daily calibrations or verifications of simple instrumentation, including balances, pH and density meters.
- Clean and maintain all laboratory glassware to ensure pace of the laboratory can be kept.
- Perform laboratory checks on equipment, stability chambers and logbooks.
- Conduct monthly inventory checks and ensure all reagents/standards are within expiration.
- Prepare rudimentary test solutions as necessary.
- Receive and inventory materials, reagents and standards.
- Accurately documents all necessary and relevant information in a clear and concise manner per cGMP requirements.
Qualifications, Skills, & Abilities
- Highschool diploma or associate degree. Experience in the pharmaceutical industry preferred, but not required as this is an entry-level position.
- Perform routine physical laboratory testing.
- Clearly communicate to leadership.
- Accurately documents all necessary and relevant information in a concise manner per cGMP requirements.
- Support any sample submission receipts.
- Working knowledge of current regulatory guidelines.
- Cross-functional workability with direct and indirect coworkers.
- Maintain current training in the Quality Management System (QMS) with no overdue tasks.
- Operate under safety requirements at all times, including use of PPE and adherence to company policies in handling of hazardous substances
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be capable of wearing all appropriate PPEs correctly during handling of hazardous substances
- Some work may require extended periods of time standing at a lab bench, clean room or stability chamber
- Must be visually capable of accurately measuring and reading volumes of solution in volumetric apparatus (i.e. accurately read meniscus)
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
