This position is open to applicants or individuals who are located in or willing to move to Groveport, OH.

The Role: The Loss Prevention Specialist (3rd Shift) is responsible for delivery of effective security and loss prevention services to the Cart.com Service Center and clients. Operate as the first line contact for initiating emergency and loss prevention functions at the Cart.com Service Center in order to provide a safe work environment for associates and to reduce loss for the company.

What You'll Do:

  • Oversees several different types of computer monitoring systems that provide information to the LPA that include fire, intrusion, duress, access control, environmental systems, and video. Information received is then applied to the most appropriate response scenario as directed by procedure. When the incoming information does not directly apply to a pre-defined response, the LPA must use his/her judgment to find the most “appropriate” response to minimize losses, either monetary or to personnel. The LPA may do this directly or oversee staff members working with the LPA.
  • Primary point of contact for emergency situations for the Cart.com Service Center. The LPA may receive notification of emergency events such as smoke, gas, fire, earthquake, tornado, medical, overseas travel emergency, etc., and must relay this information to the proper emergency services throughout the country and emergency personnel for the corporations that Cart.com serves. For Cart.com the LPA may directly assist during these events.
  • Either directly or through subordinates ensures the psychical security of Cart.com Service Center by conducting periodic checks of the physical protection of Cart.com. This may include fence lines, gates, lighting levels, doors, windows, etc.
  • Create, review, and monitor reports from security systems or testing routines. These may include testing documents, system reviews, alarm/user activity to search out any anomalies or tendencies that may indicate dishonest behavior or a system problem. The LPA must then relay any findings to proper contact person at Cart.com or client.
  • Oversees, conducts and enforces, as needed, all turnstile monitoring policies and procedures including bag and garment checks, temporary badge distribution and proper use of equipment/merchandise removal receipts.
  • Assists loss prevention management in development of procedures and responses to services that Cart.com Loss Prevention is providing.
  • Provides customization of Cart.com security system software applications.
  • The LPA is responsible for all “programming” of security software to ensure Cart.com objectives are met.
  • The first line corporate technical expert in regards to security/loss prevention practices and systems to Cart.com and its clients.
  • Works with Cart.com Loss Prevention management to routinely test systems for functionality and user preparedness.
  • Is watchful of all acts of carelessness and violations of Cart.com Company policy that may directly contribute to potential disaster, inventory shrinkage and/or profit drain.
  • Reports findings to the Loss Prevention Management.
  • Oversees and conducts checks on trailer deliveries and delivery methods (seals, paperwork, etc.). This includes the proper release and receipt of trailers and deliveries.
  • Administers and supervises any additional duties, functions or programs on directive from the Loss Prevention Investigator, Supervisor or Manager.
  • May conduct the training and evaluation of new Loss Prevention personnel.
  • Assists in the investigation of and the apprehension of dishonest associates or contractors.


Who You are:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 3 to 4 years related loss prevention or security experience

Physical Work Environment:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that are required by an associate to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly required to talk or hear. The associate is frequently required to sit; stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; as well as reach with hands and arms.
  • The associate must frequently lift and/or move up to 15 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 35 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distant vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • Ability to work in open environment with fluctuating temperatures and standard lighting.
  • Ability to work on computer and mobile phone for multiple hours; with frequent interruptions.
  • Required to travel in elevator or stairwells to attend meetings and engage with associates on multiple floors throughout building.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

  • This is a full-time position. As an International Retailer, occasional evening and/or weekend work may be required during periods of high volume. This role may operate in a professional office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment. This role may also operate in a warehouse environment subject to inside environmental conditions with protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes. This role may also be subject to loud noise due to conveyor systems and material handling equipment and routinely uses standard personal protective equipment.
