About the Role

We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly motivated Legal Analyst & Researcher to assist in the legal research and analysis needed for training and refining our claims models. The ideal candidate will have strong legal research skills and familiarity with claims or insurance law, and access to Westlaw or LexisNexis through an accredited law school or institution is necessary. This is a part-time role (10 - 20 hours per week) on temporary assignment (approx. 6 months), reporting into the Director of Product Strategy & Enablement.

What You’ll Do...

  • Conduct in-depth legal research related to insurance claims, civil litigation, tort law, and other related practice areas.
  • Analyze court decisions, statutes, regulations, and legal commentary to identify relevant patterns and precedents.
  • Summarize case law, insurance policies, and legal standards to support AI model training and validation.
  • Assist in annotating legal documents, claims data, and case outcomes for machine learning datasets.
  • Collaborate with data scientists, engineers, legal analysts, and product teams to improve the accuracy and legal soundness of our models.
  • Maintain documentation of research methodologies and results.

What We’re Looking For...

Required

  • Current law student (2L or 3L) or recent graduate from an accredited law school.
  • Strong legal research and writing skills.
  • Access to Westlaw or LexisNexis through your institution.
  • Interest in legal technology, AI, and the intersection of law and data science.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to work independently.
  • Available to work 10 - 20 hours per week.

Preferred

  • Prior exposure to insurance law, claims litigation, or legal analytics.
  • Familiarity with data privacy and ethical considerations in legal tech.
  • Knowledge of civil procedure and claims handling processes.
