Role Summary/Purpose

The Data Quality engineer provides continuous automated and manual testing of data sets for use in internal data systems and gathering external data sets into internal systems. Data sets can be in several formats, depending on systems, including JSON, CSV, FHIR or HL7. The data quality engineer works in the IT Architecture team with the other data engineers and the automation engineers.

Responsibilities:

The Data Quality engineer should be able to estimate, prioritize, plan, and coordinate testing activities., and be the point person for clearing data for release according to delivery specifications. Use Azure or open-source tools to design, develop, and execute automation scripts. Perform thorough regression testing when bugs are resolved, also develop and apply testing processes for products that will meet client needs. Liaise with internal teams (e.g. developers and product managers) to identify system requirements. The Data Quality engineer ensures reliable, high-quality data is delivered to internal and external stakeholders and applications.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • 5+ years of experience with In-depth knowledge of healthcare data
  • Experience with claim systems such as TriZetto or similar and EMR/EHR in a group practice or ambulatory to healthcare network system
  • Knowledgeable of software QA methodologies, tools, and processes
  • Proven experience in writing clear and concise test plans and cases
  • Solid knowledge of SQL and Python scripting
  • Knowledge of data pipelines, data merging and data injections during transformation and normalization process
  • Execute end-to-end testing of ETL processes, including data extraction, transformation, loading, and reporting, to ensure accuracy, completeness, and data integrity
  • Excellent understanding of data analysis and visualization
  • Ability to perform root cause analysis on defects
  • Experience with healthcare enterprise integration standards such as IHE, HL7, FHIR
  • Assist in developing and maintaining data governance policies and standards
  • Communication skills that prioritize collaboration over conflict
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university or equivalent experience
