The DispatchHealth Manager is an experienced DispatchHealth Registered Nurse who exhibits exceptional leadership qualities. The role of the DispatchHealth Manager focuses on intra-day operations of the Complex Clinical Intake Nurse Advisor-Triage role. The responsibility of this role is tied to the shift while acting as the Manager.

The manager is responsible to evaluate the day for staffing, efficiencies, opportunities to optimize staffing and organizes the Complex Clinical Intake Nurse Advisor-Triage team in a manner that makes the best use of available resources, both personnel and material, and which take into account the knowledge, skills, and abilities of those persons who will be integral to the patient care process. The manager provides ongoing coordination of work and resources as necessary to meet changing requirements in the work environment throughout the day.

Throughout the day, the manager evaluates individual and collective outcomes of the patient care provided during their shift, compares patient outcomes to expected outcome, adjusts assignment of resources as necessary.

Because the manager observes patient care delivery and outcomes as provided by coworkers, the manager may be asked to contribute observations to individual employee evaluations, suggest competency evaluations, or to advise and educate fellow staff. These functions of the manager should not, however, be constructed as supervisory in the sense of exercising control regarding employment decisions. The manager is accountable for overall intra-day operations of the Nurse Advisor-Triage team while on shift.

  • Coordinating daily administrative duties including break, meal and meeting times.
  • Manages Call-ins for staff in collaboration with the central scheduling team and senior nurse manager
  • Ensure Priority lines are staffed for all expected hours of operation
  • Review next 48 hours of staffing and communicate with Scheduling team and Senior Nurse Manager
  • Ensure all Working Registered Nurses have licenses and appropriate set up to ensure appropriate calls are delivered
  • Acts as shift resource
  • Acts as CCI Nurse Advisor -Triage when needed, covers breaks if needed
  • Works with WFM to ensure open lines of communication
  • Acts as the point of contact to facilitate questions and support the Nurse Advisor Team on shift.
  • Mentor new staff. Acts as coach for professional development of others.
  • Monitor Documentation of Nurse Advisor-Triage staff and notify Quality Assurance RN of any concerns
  • Responsible for Daily Huddle with staff to communicate changes or other updates from leadership
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements of the team
  • Awareness of institution policies and procedures related to nursing service.
  • Interprets organizational chart and uses the institution’s organizational structure effectively.
  • Knows the responsibilities of all nursing staff members and utilizes this knowledge when preparing assignments for staff members.
  • Utilizes the talents of all members of the nursing staff.
  • Solves problems or avoids potential ones by making choices that align with the strategic direction and all policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrates leadership through clinical practice and teaching.
  • Applies decision-making theory and the scientific method to solve patient care problems.
  • Applies communication theories and techniques in negotiating with patients, families and other staff members to accomplish the nursing care plan and disposition of challenging Triage scenarios.
  • Daily collaboration with WFM to ensure all CCI Nurse Advisor-Triage team members are supported.
  • The Manager is the point of contact for all CCI Nurse Advisor-Triage team members
  • The Manager checks in with DispatchHealth Partners daily. These partners include, but are not limited to, the Nurse Advisor Assistant Coordinators, WFM team, Senior Director.
  • Collaborates as needed with Dispatch-Health resources as needed to troubleshoot concerns of staff real time and in connection with the senior director
  • Helps roll out of new processes directly with team members.
  • Responsible to know what resources are available for staff and how to access them. Examples include, but are not limited to, IT support, informatics, scheduling, WFM
  • The Manager holds expertise in ALL service lines supported by DispatchHealth and acts as a resource to the Nurse Advisor-Triage Nurses.
  • Responsible to notify Medical Director and Sr. Director of any clinical concerns.
  • Other Duties as assigned in alignment with other traditional Manager roles.
  • Responsible to stay up to date on all protocol, policy changes and ensure working Nurse Advisor team are aware of changes.

What You Need

  • Proven work experience as a Manager or similar role
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills
  • Compassionate with sound judgment and problem-solving
  • Proficient in DispatchHealth Software platforms
  • Relevant training and/or certifications as a Manager Preferred
  • Minimum Education: ADN; Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • Minimum of 6 years related experience and 2-5 of those years being in management
