The Opportunity:

We are looking for a Compliance Specialist to help build and contribute to compliance efforts at Highnote. This position will work directly with the Compliance Director as well as the Head of Compliance.

Ideal candidates will have worked at a bank with a credit program or have experience at a fintech with a focus on credit. Candidates will have credit knowledge and expertise in commercial and consumer credit. Experience in one or other welcomed; if only one, consumer is preferred. Candidates must be comfortable working in fluid environments and have a keen understanding of bank and payments regulations impacting consumers, such as Reg E, Z, ECOA, and FCRA.

What you'll be doing:

  • Credit Policies
    • Review and iterate on credit policies, including but not limited to FCRA, ECOA, TILA, FDCPA
    • Ability to handle initial review and provide feedback to the Compliance Director
  • Interfacing with Customers
    • Ability to receive, provide, and manage feedback on policies with Compliance Director
    • Ability to grow and provide feedback directly to the customer
    • Ability to work with customer on managing the intake process of policies and feedback process through workflow system
    • Responsible and mindful of internal and external SLAs as well as updating workflow system with deadlines
  • Interfacing with Banks
    • Work directly with Compliance Director to create templates, check lists, and knowledge based on bank best practices
    • Ability to grow and provide feedback directly to bank partners

Bonus Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience working in compliance with a focus on card issuance and acquiring
  • CRCM, CAMS, CFE, and/or CFCS certification
  • Strong knowledge of regulatory compliance obligations for payment and/or card issuing platforms
  • Successful under pressure and with shortened or changing deadlines
  • Demonstrated success developing solutions to complex problems

  • At Highnote we have built a total rewards philosophy that includes fair, equitable, geo-based compensation that is performance and potential based. Our compensation packages are competitive based on robust market research and are a combination of a cash salary, equity, and benefits. In compliance with the Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, the annual salary range for applicants is $90,000-150,000.

Please note that positions located in San Francisco are hybrid and include core working days of Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday in office.
