The Credentialing Specialist is primarily responsible for payer contract initiation, credentialing, and execution. This position reports to the VP of RCM to ensure contract completion and credentialing requirements are met. This position also supports future growth initiatives through research and payer outreach. Other deliverables for this position include monitoring contract status, implementation, and internal coordination of contract agreements.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Serve as primary intake contact for payer agreements and manages each contract’s lifecycle.
  • Completes analysis, credentialing, and applications on all incoming managed care agreements.
  • Responsible for tracking contract approvals, coordinating wet or electronic signatures, and implementing of payer agreements in conjunction with the Head of Business Development.
  • Verify that payer agreements comply with all state, federal, and corporate requirements.
  • Work cross-functionally with the internal team to ensure the efficiency of processes and creates new workflows and/or tools, and as needed, on special projects, analysis, and reporting.
  • Travel as needed to assist the Contracting department in training, presentations, and payer-related meetings or negotiations.

Qualifications:

  • BA/BS degree preferred but not required. Must have a high school diploma or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum three (3) years of healthcare experience is required; contract or credentialing experience in healthcare preferred.
  • One (1) year working with healthcare contract terms, reimbursement methods, or contract administration principles preferred; and has basic contract language interpretation skills.
  • Skills in project management, including documentation, attention to detail, diligent follow-up, and organization essential.
  • Excellent communication, especially written, and the ability to summarize information concisely.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook is required.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to interact effectively and professionally with individuals at all levels, both internal and external.
  • Exercises sound judgment in responding to inquiries; understands when to escalate inquiries.
  • Self-motivated and capable of working independently, as well as part of a team.

Must be able to manage multiple tasks/projects simultaneously within inflexible time frames. Ability to adapt to frequent priority changes and still meet required deadlines.
