Priva Path Labs, a trusted partner of LetsGetChecked, is seeking a highly skilled Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) specializing in Mass Spectrometry (MS). This role is crucial for our high-complexity laboratory, focusing on the accurate execution of testing, quality control, and instrument troubleshooting within the MS domain. The ideal candidate possesses a valid California CLS license (Generalist or Clinical Chemistry Scientist) and a strong commitment to maintaining scientific rigor and accountability that exceeds regulatory governance requirements.
Responsibilities
Technical Execution & Analysis
- Perform high-complexity patient testing authorized by the Laboratory Director, strictly following the laboratory’s procedures for specimen handling, processing, and test analysis.
- Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot mass spectrometry instruments and related equipment (e.g., LC-MS, GC-MS).
- Develop, implement, and validate new methodologies and protocols specific to mass spectrometry techniques to improve laboratory capabilities and efficiency.
- Adhere to the laboratory’s Quality Control policies and document all Quality Control activities, instrument maintenance, and procedural calibrations.
- Perform all testing in compliance with regulatory and quality standards, ensuring adherence to the Quality Management System (QMS).
Compliance, Quality & Data Integrity
- Maintain records demonstrating that Proficiency Testing (PT) samples are tested in the same manner as patient specimens.
- Ensure that all analytical data meets established project objectives and quality standards, contributing to compliance with HIPAA and internal security policies.
- Be capable of identifying problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting and promptly correcting the issue or notifying the appropriate supervisor.
- Document all corrective actions taken when test systems deviate from the laboratory’s established performance specifications.
- Participate in all phases of the testing process, ensuring the accuracy and consistency of patient results.
Collaboration & Mentorship
- Serve as a technical resource for other scientists and technicians, providing guidance on mass spectrometry techniques, data analysis, and instrument operation.
- Participate in efforts to maintain efficient workflow and adhere to standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Qualifications and Skills
Required Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or a related life science (e.g., Biology, Molecular Biology, Chemistry, or Biochemistry).
- Licensure: Must hold a current State of California Clinical Laboratory Scientist License (Generalist or Clinical Chemistry Scientist).
- Experience: Minimum of 1 year of hands-on experience in a high-throughput clinical laboratory.
- Mass Spectrometry: Minimum of 1 year of experience in mass spectrometry, including hands-on experience with various mass spectrometers (e.g., LC-MS, GC-MS, etc.) or similar advanced analytical instrumentation.
Preferred Expertise
- Experience with automated liquid handling platforms (highly desirable).
- Experience with Sciex mass spectrometers is a plus.
- Demonstrated expertise in method development, validation, and troubleshooting of mass spectrometry techniques.
- Advanced knowledge of MS instrumentation, software, and data analysis tools.

Alongside base salary of $53-$55.50 per hour, this position is eligible for a $10,000 signing bonus + 15% differential for second shift, we offer a range of benefits including:
