Saturday day shift (1st shift) required; additional shifts available on an as-needed basis to support department volume.

The Clinical Lab Scientist-Chemistry (Per Diem) is a per diem position and will require less than 30 hours per week. Testing Personnel are responsible for specimen processing, test performance, and reporting test results.

Duties and Responsibilities:

The Clinical Lab Scientist is responsible for performing tests authorized by the Laboratory Director that are within the individual’s skill level. Specific responsibilities include:

  • Following the laboratory’s procedures for specimen handling, processing, test analyses, reporting, and maintaining records of patient results.
  • Maintaining records which demonstrate that proficiency testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient specimens.
  • Adhering to the laboratory’s Quality Control policies and documenting all Quality Control activities, instrument and procedural calibrations, and instrument maintenance.
  • Following the laboratory’s policies, including taking and documenting corrective actions, whenever test systems are not within the laboratory’s established acceptable levels of performance.
  • Being able to identify problems that may adversely affect test performance or test result reporting and correcting the problem or notifying the appropriate supervisor.
  • Documenting all corrective actions taken when test systems deviate from the laboratory’s established performance specifications.
  • If required by route of qualification, performing high complexity testing only under the on-site direct supervision of a General Supervisor.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or related life science (i.e. Chemistry, or Biochemistry)
  • Valid California CLS licensure (Generalist or Chemistry Specialist) with at least one year experience in a high-throughput clinical chemistry laboratory
  • Experience with Roche Cobas Modular 8000 is a plus
  • Superb attention to detail

  • Ability to multi-task in a pressured environment, team player

Lifting & Physical Requirements

Coordination & Senses: The Clinical Lab Scientist must have fine motor coordination, clear speech, normal hearing, and good visual acuity with the ability to distinguish major colors.
Mobility: Must be able to move readily from one location to another within the laboratory.
Lifting: Minimum lifting is generally not more than 50 pounds.
The salary for this role is $55 per hour.
