M2X Energy is a venture-funded company established by Breakthrough Energy Ventures in 2020. M2X is an end-to-end developer of modular, transportable gas-to-liquids system to economically produce low carbon methanol from stranded methane. M2X’s low carbon methanol can serve as a fuel for the marine sector, as a chemical feedstock, as a precursor to SAF and biodiesel, and as a hydrogen carrier.

The Electrical Controls Engineer will lead development of electrical and controls systems for the automation of an economical gas-to-liquid conversion system utilizing stranded methane sources. In this role, you will lead the development and integration of the electrical systems, including 480V motors/drives, high voltage and low voltage electric circuits, instrumentation, controllers, and enclosures. You will develop control strategies for the on-board PLC controller to enable remote health monitoring and control of the system.

You will be a key member of the rapidly growing M2X technical team during a very exciting time in our company’s history, as we continue development and begin manufacturing and deployment of our commercial system. This rapid development cycle will allow the successful Electrical Controls Engineer to lead many exciting projects and develop innovative solutions to the many challenges encountered. Expectations are that this role will design all future electrical and control system architectures for our commercial unit and collaborate with fabricators and suppliers to build the electrical and controls hardware. This role has significant career growth potential, as the role will continue to grow and evolve with M2X Energy.

The Electrical Controls Engineer must work effectively as part of a team and represent M2X Energy well with partners and customers. The successful candidate will demonstrate exceptional technical competence and proficiency in controls system fundamentals and application. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a passion for developing new technologies to mitigate the worst effects of climate change.
