M2X Energy is a venture-funded company established by Breakthrough Energy Ventures in 2020. M2X is an end-to-end developer of modular, transportable gas-to-liquids system to economically produce low carbon methanol from stranded methane. M2X’s low carbon methanol can serve as a fuel for the marine sector, as a chemical feedstock, as a precursor to SAF and biodiesel, and as a hydrogen carrier.

We are hiring a highly skilled and motivated individual to join our North Carolina-based team as a Electrical Technician and Operator. In that role you will install, operate, and repair electrical and controls systems on a gas-to-liquid synthesis system utilizing flare gas and other stranded gases. You will work with various electrical systems, including 480V motors/drives, high voltage and low voltage electric circuits, instrumentation, controllers, and associated enclosures. You will also operate the prototype and commercial systems to carry out key test and debugging operations. You will provide valuable feedback about how to improve and operate our system, as we continue development and begin manufacturing and deployment of our commercial product.

The Electrical Technician and Operator must work effectively as part of a team and represent M2X Energy well with partners and customers. The successful candidate will demonstrate exceptional technical competence and proficiency in electrical controls system fundamentals and troubleshooting. The ideal candidate will also demonstrate a passion for developing and testing new technologies to mitigate the worst effects of climate change.

Required Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with practical electrical systems, including wiring and electrical system hardware installation and troubleshooting.
• 3+ years of professional experience.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate’s degree or certificate in Electrical Engineering Technology or related field.
• 5+ years of professional experience.
• Industrial control experience (PLCs).
• Experience in deployment of electrical and mechanical (mechatronics) systems, including motor drives and other power electronics.
• Knowledge of NEC code and electrical classification.
• Experience with data acquisition systems and analysis.
• Experience leading and participating in team settings.
• Ability to enthusiastically work on novel, complex projects with minimal oversight.
• Proven ability to quickly learn new technologies and tackle new challenges.

Work Schedule: Full-time, Monday to Friday

Work Location: On-site in Welcome, North Carolina, on the RCR Racing campus. Welcome is a beautiful rural setting in the piedmont area of North Carolina, with nearby urban areas including Winston-Salem, Greensboro, and Charlotte. Occasional travel to M2X locations including Rockledge, FL, and periodic travel to partner and customer locations.
