About the Role: The Director of Field Operations and Development will oversee the end-to-end development and execution of new projects, ensuring alignment with company goals and sustainability objectives. This role includes managing a multidisciplinary team responsible for permitting, utility interconnections, site design, commissioning, environmental credit registration, and offtake logistics. The Director will play a critical role in shaping the company’s operational and strategic development initiatives, fostering collaboration, and driving efficiency.
Responsibilities:
Project Development Leadership:
- Work alongside Chief Development Officer to ensure all teams are aligned on progress and next steps.
- Oversee all aspects of new project development from conception to completion.
- Ensure alignment of projects with organizational goals, budgets, and timelines.
- Lead cross-functional teams to achieve project milestones.
Permitting and Regulatory Compliance:
- Manage and oversee team focused on permitting processes at local, state, and federal levels.
- Ensure all projects comply with applicable regulations and standards.
- Collaborate with the Director of Regulatory Compliance to mitigate risks and secure approvals.
Utility Interconnections:
- Oversee the utility interconnection process, ensuring efficient and cost-effective solutions.
- Negotiate agreements with utility providers.
Site Design and Engineering:
- Ensure engineering groups are aligned on site layouts and it aligns with requirements of each site.
- Work closely with engineering teams to address site-specific challenges and opportunities.
Commissioning and Start-Up:
- Activate Field Commissioning Lead and team for project launch.
- Oversee commissioning activities and progress to ensure projects meet performance standards and operational readiness.
- Coordinate with field commissioning teams to address any technical issues.
Environmental Credit Registration:
- Work alongside the Director of Regulatory Compliance to oversee the registration of environmental credits, ensuring compliance with relevant protocols and maximizing value.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to navigate complex certification processes.
Offtake Logistics:
- Direct the Logistics Coordinator and assist in execution of logistics contracts for product delivery, ensuring seamless delivery and fulfillment of offtake agreements.
- Collaborate with logistics coordinators to address operational challenges.
Team Management and Development:
- Build and lead a high-performing team, fostering a culture of accountability and innovation.
- Mentor and develop team members to enhance their professional growth.
Stakeholder Engagement:
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, including regulatory bodies, utilities, vendors, and customers.
- Represent the company at industry events and conferences.
Strategic Planning and Reporting:
- Develop and execute strategic plans to achieve company objectives.
- Provide regular updates and reports to executive leadership on project progress, risks, and opportunities.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Science, Engineering, Business or equivalent
- 4+ years of experience in project development, permitting, compliance and stakeholder management for energy projects
- Understand regulatory and permitting requirements, interface with regulatory agencies and safety experts, and compliance
- Familiarity with budgeting and budget tracking
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Strong attention to detail
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Science, Engineering, Business or equivalent
- Experience with project development for energy projects, landfill operations, RNG plants, or upstream oil & gas operations
- Track record of project development and examples of a standardized and efficient approach to documentation and operational compliance.
- Track record of working effectively in a fast-paced team environment
- Experience working effectively across various organizations (e.g., vendors, government agencies, partners, stakeholders) engaged on a project.
Pay range and compensation package: 110,000-140,000
