The Legal Specialist will be responsible for obtaining and maintaining required business licenses for the operation of Marathon’s health centers and managing the Legal Team’s contract and legal services requests through an established system. Additionally, responsibility includes research of regulatory developments and interpreting laws in the context of the company’s activities and ensuring that key personnel are in possession of necessary information.

Responsibilities

  • Identify, obtain, and track business licenses required for the Company’s operations.
  • Manage work requests for the Legal Team and report status updates.
  • Support the objectives of the Compliance Officer which may include administrative tasks and discreet research projects.
  • Monitor changes to laws, guidelines, or regulations. Update the regulatory information available on the company intranet to reflect current policy.
  • Communicate regulatory guidance to internal business partners to inform of new or updated policy.
  • Provide guidance on medical records release. Ensure that records produced accurately provide what is requested or required under subpoena.
  • Provide administrative assistance with policy, procedure and forms drafting.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Associate degree or Certificate in Paralegal Studies
  • Minimum of 3 years of legal research experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Prior experience in Healthcare is preferred.
  • Excellent communication and organization skills
  • Ability to handle confidential information
  • Strong computer skills; prior experience with SmartSheets and Excel preferable
  • Team oriented and takes a proactive approach to handling matters
  • Detail oriented with a strong ability to multi-task
  • Professional presence and demeanor

Pay Range: $70,000 - 95,000/yr

The actual offer may vary dependent upon geographic location and the candidate’s years of experience and/or skill level.
