ABOUT THE JOB
Responsible for providing occupational health and acute care to employees for workplace injuries and illnesses at assigned Marathon Health Centers. May be responsible for the oversight for care delivered by the nurse(s), and/or medical assistants within affiliated Marathon Health Centers. Maintain a collaborative relationship with the client representatives, client’s employees, vendors, and Marathon Health centers' staff.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Contribute to design and management of health center programs and policies.
- Administrate as a clinical team leader. Oversees other MH medical staff in clinic (i.e., MA, LPN, RN).
- Function to comply with state medical and nursing regulatory boards through signed protocols and procedures. Follows established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives, continuous quality improvement objectives, and safety, environmental, and/or infection control standards.
- Provide medical primary care services to client’s employees (and potentially eligible family members of those employees) at specific Marathon Health clinic locations.
- Review patient’s medical history, record findings, and update patient records as appropriate.
- Review and audits clinical charts for quality assurance and regulatory compliances. Ensures confidentiality and handling procedures are followed for medical charts and files.
- Provides and manages direct patient care to employees at specific Marathon Health clinic locations, including physical examinations, evaluations, assessments, diagnoses and treatment for a specified patient population.
- Complete physical/history screening/wellness exams including greeting patients, inspect and record medical histories, gather medical information, listen to patient concerns, review symptoms, examining the patient, diagnose, record diagnosis results, and prescribe and administer treatments.
- Order diagnostic lab tests, interpret lab results, and determine appropriate course of treatment. May assist in collection of specimens, ensuring proper storage and labeling protocol, and completion of tests.
- Perform medical services and prompt injury treatment to patients as needed.
- Perform acute care and occupational health screenings/appointments (based on care center).
- Review and update patient’s vaccinations and immunization records and make recommendations to current guidelines.
- Review medical records and prescribe, dispense, and/or refill medications, as needed.
- Prescribe treatment regimens beyond pharmaceuticals as appropriate to assessed medical conditions.
- Approve and signs standing orders for licensed nurses and medical assistants.
- Provide therapeutic treatments (wound care, stitching, etc.) as needed.
- Counsel patients and perform health coaching on diet, hygiene, and preventive healthcare. Provide pamphlets, materials, and other helpful resources to give the highest level of patient care.
- Partner with physicians about patient care, discrepancies, or difficult to diagnose or treatment options as needed. Provide medical referrals as necessary such as specialists, acute care, or hospitalization. Determines if emergency services are needed and recommends transport to emergency room treatment facilities as necessary. Providing documentation for insurance companies.
- As appropriate to the position, participates in specified health promotion, education and/or prevention programs.
- Partner with providers, clients, and other departments within Marathon Health to help and participate with educational and public health programs, trainings and workshops, immunization clinics, employee wellness programs and promotions, safety days and events, health and fitness fairs and incentive programs, etc.
- Serve as medical liaison to community and communicate on behalf of Marathon Health’s best interest and of the highest level of quality and care.
- Fosters communication and teamwork by maintaining a positive, cooperative, productive work environment within a diverse population and with those from various occupational and cultural backgrounds.
- Participates in the orientation and training of new ambassadors to thoroughly acclimate them to the workplace and provide knowledge resources for success.
- May perform some general office administration including welcoming patients, answering phones and voice mail, scheduling appointments, handling correspondence and confidential files, office and medical literature and brochures, managing signage and bulletin boards, and ensure presentation is professional in appearance, up-to-date, and according to Marathon Health branding standards.
- Oversee medical equipment, medical and clinical supplies inventory. Performs frequent audits to ensure equipment is operational and supplies are sufficient in inventory, storage, and expiration dates are satisfactory according to guidelines.
- Ensure center maintains a pleasant environment, MH branding, safety, hygiene and sanitation standards are met to the highest quality.
- Comply strictly with medical care regulations and safety standards. Follows HIPAA guidelines for patient confidentiality.
- Research the latest treatments, innovations, advances, and trends in the medical industry.
- Must maintain continuing education to maintain medical license and certification status.
Occupational Health
- Perform Occupational Health screenings/appointments and provide medical care for workplace injuries and illnesses.
- Interpret spirometry for acceptable trials and results.
- Provide initial Interpretation of resting EKG.
- Work injury evaluation and treatment including workplace exposures, musculoskeletal injuries, suturing, and removing foreign objects from the eye or body.
- Coordinate with employer regarding illness and injury policies and workers’ compensation insurance companies for the purposes of case management of work injuries.
- Appropriately identify needed work-related titers and vaccinations.
- Medical patient examinations result in drafting a form stating the person's fitness for duty and the ability or inability to occupy his/her assigned job. May conduct medical examinations and assessments of job applicants related to fit to work and ability to perform tasks of a particular job (i.e. DOT examinations for drivers) and that their health does not pose a risk to themselves or others.
- In line with the required respect for the patient's rights and documented authorization, the nurse practitioner may transmit the medical information useful to Worker’s Compensation and disability claims, back-to-work medical consultations, etc., to consider fitness for work and the possibilities of return to work and/or adapting the workplace for resumption of work.
- Through health monitoring action and knowledge of jobs and positions with the client, the occupational nurse practitioner aims to understand how the work environment can affect health and contribute to the improvement of well-being at work.
- Collaborate with client managers to develop or enhance work tasks to understand workplace hazards, how the body will be affected, protective equipment measures, prevention factors and treatment plans for illness/injuries. May provide guidance to employers regarding local and national health and safety regulations. May partner with client managers in developing and implementing workplace health and safety policies and procedures and identify and mitigate potential health and safety hazards in the workplace. May conduct workplace assessments to identify potential hazards that may cause injury or illness to workers.
QUALIFICATIONS
Master’s degree in nursing or related degree required. Nurse Practitioner Medical Certification and License in the state of assigned work required. Board certified in Specified Area of Medical Specialty. Federal DEA Certification, ALS/First Aid/CPR Certifications required. Certification for independent prescriptive authority to prescribe medications and controlled substances, under the licensure authority of the state board of nursing for the state of work. 2+ years of experience in internal medicine or family/general practice required. 2+ years of experience in occupational medicine preferred.

- Excellent written and oral communications skills. Ability to communicate medical conversations with clients, patients, business leaders and professionals.

Pay Range: $70,000 - $96,000/yr for a 24hrs a week schedule.
