ABOUT THE JOB
The Director, Communications and Content is responsible for leading brand-building initiatives across multiple channels and audiences, developing programs and platforms for highly credible evergreen content and news angles, and engaging media and other relevant influencers to drive brand awareness and preference. The ideal candidate has extensive experience in B2B health care marketing/communications, corporate/category positioning and reputation management, and a passion for advancing preventive care access, affordability, and outcomes for working America. The candidate must be an exceptional communicator and influencer, with excellent business acumen and leadership capabilities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and execute a comprehensive suite of corporate communications programs, strategies, and tactics relative to Marathon Health’s top-level goals, and enhance Marathon’s visibility and reputation among its key audiences: employers/sponsors within manufacturing, state and local government, education, unions; Marathon teammates; members; investors; influencers thereof including media
- Ensure the company is accurately and advantageously positioned with media, industry groups, and other relevant stakeholders such as analysts
- Develop and manage a strategic editorial calendar, crafting, curating, and coordinating (among internal/external SMEs, marketing collaborators, and other contributors) differentiated communications – tailored to diverse audience segments and channels
- Identify strategically important organizations/communities, construct and advance plans toward mutually beneficial partnerships and communication platforms
- Informs corporate narrative and select strategic communications for executive leadership, e.g., speech content, backgrounders, etc.
- Continually refine messaging based on company evolution, milestones, peer set, and perception; work collaboratively across functions to inform communication strategies and ensure alignment and consistency in key messaging
- Partner with CEO/CMO/executive leadership to support specific corporate relations activities
- Develop and maintain relationships with key outlets, journalists, and influencers; plan and organize media/shared media engagement and activities
- Manage agency/consultant partner(s) to maximize ROI
- Monitor coverage and other forms of “pick up,” develop and report KPIs to assess and optimize impact
- Support issues/crisis management; ensure readiness through risk analysis and systems/process design and implementation
- Ensure Marathon teammates are prioritized as an audience with major announcements and ongoing; support internal communications in collaboration with People Experience
QUALIFICATIONS
- 10+ years relevant professional/academic experience
- Player/coach who can lead but is also willing to roll up one’s sleeves and execute in a high-growth environment
- Decisive leader who readily assimilates and acts on a keen understanding of corporate imperatives and market forces
- Results-driven -- creative thinker who identifies nonobvious opportunities and sees ideas through to successful execution
- Applies outstanding judgment and strategic acumen to effectively prioritize and manage multiple priorities, ensuring timely delivery and maximal impact including against emergent needs
- Adept at matrix/influence management; eager and able to collaboratively interact with and align stakeholders across the company
- Deep expertise with bringing along internal and external stakeholders in a persuasive and effective manner (e.g., tailored pitches, formal presentations, etc.)
- Analytical, able to assemble, interpret, and summarize data and decision support; experience using data to tell a story
- Proven ability to effectively juggle multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and successfully operate in a fast-paced work environment; comfortable with ambiguity
- Exceptional project management skills and attention to detail

Pay Range: $120,000 - $170,000/yr
The actual offer may vary dependent upon geographic location and the candidate’s years of experience and/or skill level. This position is also eligible for an annual incentive.
