ABOUT THE JOB

Dispense prescription medications and consults with patients about the drugs and their use. Advise physicians and other healthcare providers on the selection, dosage, interactions, and side effects of medications to treat health problems. Manage the Pharmacy, perform administrative duties, and supervise pharmacy technicians as assigned.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Receives, compounds, and fills prescriptions and dispenses pharmaceuticals and other drug therapies.

  • Consults with patients and/or medical practitioners on how to take and administer medications, drug indications/contraindications, dosage for safe patient use, drug interactions, potential side effects, and how to store medicines to maintain efficacy. Ensures safety by reviewing prescriptions for interactions with other drugs prescribed to patient, patient allergies, and abilities to take some types of medications. Advises patients on over-the-counter medications to supplement other drug treatments.

  • Provides other drug and pharmaceutical information as appropriate.

  • Give allergy shots and immunizations such as vaccines, flu shots, pneumonia shots, etc.

  • Establishes and maintains methods and manner of storage and recordkeeping systems to provide for security and safekeeping of pharmaceuticals.

  • May take patient's histories as required. May make initial clinical assessments and refers patients to appropriate clinicians.

  • Process insurance claims and complete paperwork to ensure payment from insurance providers. Ensure proper archiving and records retention of documents for audit or investigation.

  • Performs routine quality control testing of equipment, environment and record keeping as required by federal, state and local regulations.

  • Follows established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives, continuous quality improvement objectives, and safety, environmental, and/or infection control standards.

  • Frequently clean and sterilize surfaces and equipment in the pharmacy.

  • Daily review drug stock, has clear and accurate labels, and monitor appropriate levels of inventory. Ensure medications are ordered and follow-up on shipments to maintain stock levels.

  • Manage the Pharmacy and undertake administrative tasks such as recordkeeping, bookkeeping, signage, contacting facilities or medical equipment technicians as needed.

  • Comply with all confidentiality, safety and security measures, and quality standards.

  • Must continue learning and seek pharmaceutical updates to maintain the highest standard of quality and patient care. Must maintain license and pharmacist status.

People Leadership

  • Manage a talented team of pharmacy technicians. Establish and maintain performance management standards for the Pharmacy team.

  • In partnership with People Experience and senior leaders, provide professional and effective supervisory responsibilities including hiring, leading continuous team building and goal setting, career pathing and professional development, competency management (i.e., training, education, credentialing), performance management, work prioritization, resource management and controlling expenses, scheduling and leave management. Provide proactive support of the Ambassador’s Code and change and conflict management in support of Marathon Health’s values.

  • Accomplishes department objectives by supervising staff and organizing and monitoring work processes with the highest degree of quality and safety.

QUALIFICATIONS

Doctor of Pharmacy degree and licensure for the state of work. 2+ years of experience working in a pharmacy.

Pay Range: $75,000 - $93,000/yr for a schedule of 24hrs a week.

The actual offer may vary dependent upon geographic location and the candidate’s years of experience and/or skill level.
