About the Role

The Head of Public Sector Business will be responsible for leading and managing all aspects of MPCH's public sector initiatives. This senior executive role is crucial for developing and executing strategies that drive revenue growth and expand the company's presence within government markets. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in government sales, business development, and strategic leadership.

Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership:

  • Develop and implement comprehensive sales strategies to achieve revenue targets and growth objectives within the government sector.
  • Identify and prioritize key government markets and opportunities, aligning sales efforts with overall business goals.
  • Provide strategic direction and vision for the public sector sales team, ensuring alignment with the company’s mission and objectives.

Team Management and Development:

  • Lead, mentor, and manage the public sector sales team, including capture managers, business development managers, proposal managers, and other key roles.
  • Recruit, train, and retain top sales talent, fostering a high-performance culture.
  • Set performance goals and objectives for the team, regularly evaluating and providing feedback on performance.

Client Relationship Management:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key government clients, stakeholders, and decision-makers.
  • Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and meetings to promote the company’s capabilities and solutions.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for high-value government clients, ensuring customer satisfaction and addressing any issues or concerns.

Business Development and Capture Management:

  • Identify, qualify, and pursue new business opportunities within the government sector.
  • Oversee the capture management process, including proposal development, pricing strategies, and contract negotiations.
  • Ensure the company’s proposals are competitive, compliant, and aligned with client needs and requirements.

Market Analysis and Competitive Intelligence:

  • Conduct market research and analysis to stay informed about government procurement trends, regulations, and competitor activities.
  • Develop and maintain an in-depth understanding of government contracting processes, requirements, and best practices.
  • Use market intelligence to inform strategic decision-making and identify new opportunities for growth.

Financial Management and Reporting:

  • Develop and manage the public sector sales division’s budget, ensuring effective allocation of resources.
  • Track and report on sales performance, including revenue, profitability, pipeline development, and win rates.
  • Provide regular updates to executive leadership on the status of government sales efforts and progress toward targets.

Compliance and Risk Management:

  • Ensure all sales activities comply with government regulations, company policies, and ethical standards.
  • Manage risks associated with government contracts, including compliance with cybersecurity requirements, data protection, and other regulatory obligations.
  • Implement and oversee internal controls to safeguard the company’s interests and ensure compliance.

Collaboration and Coordination:

  • Work closely with other departments, including operations, finance, legal, and marketing, to ensure a cohesive approach to government sales.
  • Collaborate with product development and engineering teams to tailor solutions to meet government client needs.
  • Coordinate with program managers to ensure successful implementation and delivery of contracted services and solutions.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, or a related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in government sales, business development, or a related role within the public sector.
  • Proven track record of achieving sales targets and driving revenue growth in the government market.
  • Strong understanding of government procurement processes, regulations, and compliance requirements.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to travel as needed to meet with clients, attend industry events, and support sales efforts.

Benefits:

  • Salary range $175-200k, dependent upon experience.
