While Internet- and banking-penetration have come late to Africa, a youth-driven tidal wave of change is hitting the continent, and global businesses and local champions are in a race to unblock its potential.

In partnership with Rapyd, the fastest growing Fintech as a Service platform, and Multichoice, the largest entertainment platform on the African continent, we are building the payments platform that is big enough to unlock the ambitions of a generation.

Responsibilities:

● Review, draft, negotiate, and interpret a wide variety of commercial agreements including SaaS agreements, NDAs, vendor contracts, and partnership agreements, and ensure that all commercial agreements adequately protect the company’s interests

● Review, draft, and negotiate employment agreements and maintain the Company’s employee equity schemes

● Review, draft, and negotiate data privacy agreements with the Company’s vendors and partners, and assist in developing the Company’s privacy policies

● Manage multiple deals and support colleagues internationally, with sound business and legal judgment and a clear sense of company priorities

● Provide general legal support to our global business on an as-needed basis

Requirements

● Ability to communicate effectively with cross-functional stakeholders such as compliance, finance, and sales teams

● Excellent legal, business judgment and strategic thinking, team-player with outstanding attention to detail and organizational skills

● Exceptionally strong communication and interpersonal skills across all channels

● Efficient and creative problem-solver, comfortable with ambiguity, complexity, and nuance

● Able to take ownership of fast-paced projects with rapidly shifting priorities, managing them through to completion with patience, flexibility, and poise

● Experience in data privacy preferable

●Experience in M&A deals and financing rounds preferable

● Ability to manage several simultaneous projects under deadline pressure

Education and Previous Experience:

●LLB or equivalent

● 4-6 years of relevant legal experience (preferably in the fintech sector) or 2+ post-qualification experience as an in-house lawyer or in a commercial/finance department of a top-tier law firm

● Lived, worked or studied in - or simply have a passion for - Africa
