In this role you will report to the Executive Vice President – Alberta and Prairies. As a Director of Mining-Western Canada you will lead the development of business opportunities, regional strategy, and execution of mining projects for the Mining Sector in Western Canada (Manitoba to BC).
What you will be doing at Pinchin
- Support the development of Western Canada mining sector marketing and business development plans, help execute those plans, and track success against the plans. This will include developing a target client list and action plan to solicit business from the target list.
- Attend regional conferences (e.g. RoundUp, CCMEC, Saskatchewan Mining) and relevant national conferences (e.g. PDAC) to network, and liaison with potential mining clients.
- Take the lead on responding to Western Canada client requests from the mining sector. This will include call-backs, scope development, and preparation of proposals.
- Monitor KPIs to assess performance in the mining sector, identifying areas for improvement and implementing strategic solutions, while maintaining a solid understanding of key financial reporting and performance metrics.
- Act as prime liaison with mining clients in Western Canada.
- Select project teams that are appropriate to the scope of the project. This can draw on staff from inside and beyond the region.
- Act as project manager for regional mining projects.
- Provide senior technical support to mining projects to ensure effective execution.
- Drive a culture of effective people management and career development with a focus on growth and preparing successors for key roles.
- Perform senior technical, senior review, and client management duties where appropriate.
- Lead by example and in accordance with Pinchin’s Core Values and desired culture.
- All other duties as assigned.
What you bring to the Pinchin team
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in environmental science or engineering
- Professional designation preferred (P.Eng., P.Geo., CET.)
- Minimum 10 years of related experience as a consultant in the mining sector and/or working for mining companies
- Solid technical expertise, particularly with respect to mining
- Excellent problem-solving and effective communication skills
- Ability to build strong interpersonal relationships
- Ability to thrive in a team environment
