US Heart and Vascular is in need of a PET/CT Float for our HeartPlace DFW HeartPlace Clinics.

Minimum of two years of cardiovascular screening experience. ARRT registry and current Texas Licensure in Computer Tomography is required.

General Summary

Under general supervision and according to established policies and procedures, performs all in-house Nuclear Medicine PET/CT tests. Prepares patients and records, while using computerized equipment to acquire cross sectional images, under direction of physician. Aid in reporting results to the appropriate physicians.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

1. Escorts patients to testing areas.

2. Explains procedures to patients, medical history and obtains informed consent from patient.

3. Administer all in-office Nuclear Medicine PET/CT test

4. Administer radiopharmaceuticals as required

5. Determine and set appropriate technical parameters to accurately demonstrate anatomy and pathology.

6. Images, processes, and formats images for radiologist and/or physician interpretation.

7. Attaches electrodes to patient's arms, legs, and chest area, according to specified pattern, and connects electrode leads to electrocardiograph, to obtain electrocardiogram.

8. Starts electrocardiograph and records data, patient's indications, and measurements of blood pressure.

9. Informs physician of wave abnormalities on electrocardiogram.

10. Maintains cleanliness of work areas.

11. Documents test results to physicians and patients, as directed by the physician.

12. Maintains accurate inventory of materials and supplies.

13. Verifies patient appointments the day before.

14. Assists in notifying patients of special instructions prior to testing, i.e., “do not take any medication 12 hours prior to visit.”

15. Escorts patients to check-out.

16. Monitors consistency of test results, equipment settings, and physician involvement.

17. Assist in troubleshooting and coordinating repairs for all computer tomography testing equipment including but not limited to imaging cameras, heart gating systems, and power injectors.

18. Assist in the implementation of departmental policy and procedures.

19. Assists physicians as needed.

20. Provides excellent customer service and the highest quality patient care.

21. Follow all OSHA and other safety guidelines.

22. Adheres to company safety standards at all times, such that no serious (requiring medical attention) injury occurred during the prior 12-month period.

23. Follows radiation safety guidelines stated in the company’s Radiation Safety Manual and practices ALARA principles.

24. Maintains current certifications and licenses as required by this job description.

25. At all times protects the confidentiality of protected health information (PHI) of patients per HIPAA regulations.

26. Actively demonstrates teamwork at all times.

27. Follows all policies and procedures such that there are no verbal or written warnings during the evaluation period.

28. Attends work in accordance with the employee’s schedule and maintains unscheduled absences within policy guidelines.

29. Performs all other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

1. High school diploma or equivalent.

2. Degree or appropriate certification training.

3. Minimum two to five years cardiovascular screening experience.

4. ARRT registry and current Texas licensure in Computer Tomography.

5. Current CPR certification.

6. Fluently speak, read, and write English.

7. Understanding of OSHA requirements in a clinical setting

8. Understanding of HIPAA requirements.

9. Ability to meet physical demands of the job which include, but are not limited to: standing, bending, pushing, pulling, lifting, transporting supplies or equipment, walking for extended periods of time, and occasionally lifting and carrying items which may weigh up to 50 pounds.

10. Vision and hearing must be within or correctable to within normal range.
