Description
US Heart and Vascular needs a full time Medical Assistant to join our Willowbrook Cardiovascular Associates in Houston, TX.
Responsibilities:
- Takes vital signs (blood pressure, heart rate, weight, etc.)
- Verifies and inputs patient medications into EMR. Making changes and additions as needed to the medication list.
- Responsible for EKG, rhythm strip, and signal average EKG hook-ups and printouts. (Proficiency Required)
- Assist physicians with patient exams as needed.
- Responsible for Holter monitor hook-ups and removals, event recorders and Loop recorders. (Proficiency Required)
- Ability to perform stress tests as needed and to assist in test interpretation.
- Takes pharmacy phone calls, reviews charts, and calls in prescription refills.
- Monitors pharmacy samples, removing from stock as expired.
- Receives and returns phone calls from patients and other external sources. Receives and returns portal messages in the EMR.
- Maintains current CPR and Medical Assistant certification.
- May also be responsible for insurance precertification, prior authorization, procedure/surgery scheduling and coordinating transfers and admissions.
- Performs other duties as required.
- May be required to move between locations as needed.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or Texas accredited GED is required.
- Current Medical Assistant certification is required.
- 1 year of Medical Assistant experience is required.
- Current BCLS certification.
- Current experience in administration of EKGs is required.
- Prior recent cardiology experience in a clinical capacity is required.
