Overview of the Senior Accountant role
Wayspring is seeking a Senior Accountant to strengthen the accounting department due to the growth of the company. This position reports directly to the Controller and will collaborate with many departments across the organization. The ideal candidate will have strong technical accounting skills and knowledge and will apply that knowledge to new accounting and finance issues as they arise, in addition to having excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Responsibilities of the Senior Accountant
- Prepares and records entries for assets, liabilities, revenue and expenses
- Plays a significant role in month-end close, ensuring timely reporting and accurate financial data
- Compiles and maintains accounting schedules, account reconciliations and workpapers
- Oversees AP and invoicing
- Participates in development and maintenance of internal control structure
- Assists with external financial audits by providing audit support and documentation
- Prepares ad-hoc reports and analysis as needed
- Serves as a liaison to Wayspring internal department leaders
- Adheres to Wayspring information security and privacy requirements
Requirements & Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
- Public Accounting experience preferred
- Active CPA license is preferred, but not required
- 1-2 years of healthcare experience, preferred
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel
- Demonstrated creative and critical thinking skills
- Demonstrated problem solving skills
- Strong communication skills
- Experience with Intacct accounting software, preferred
